Gender-based violence is the most pervasive yet least visible human rights violation in the world; It includes physical, sexual, mental or economic harm inflicted on a person because of socially ascribed power imbalances between males and females. It also includes the threat of violence, coercion and deprivation of liberty. Gender-based violence takes numerous forms: sexual violence, child marriage, trafficking for sexual exploitation, – in addition to the intimate partner violence.
In partnership with UNFPA Lebanon and funded by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the protection team at Nabad Association for Development conducted awareness and discussion sessions on gender-based violence with youth girls and boys at central Bekaa, Riyak- Aali Nahri safe space to increase Empowerment and well-being of women and girls through safe access to gender-based violence and reproductive health services, information and promotion of gender equality.
أكثر انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان انتشارًا هو العنف الاجتماعي وأقلها وضوحًا في العالم. ويشمل الأذى الجسدي، الجنسي ، العقلي أو الاقتصادي الذي يلحق بشخص ما بسبب اختلالات القوة الاجتماعية بين الذكور والإناث. كما يشمل التهديد بالعنف ، الإكراه والحرمان من الحرية. يتخذ العنف الاجتماعي أشكالًا عديدة : العنف الجنسي ، زواج القاصرات ، الإتجار بغرض الاستغلال الجنسي - بالإضافة للتعرض الى عنف من الشريك .
بالشراكة مع صندوق الأمم المتحدة للسكان و بتمويل من الوكالة السويدية للتعاون الإنمائي الدولي نظم فريق الحماية في جمعية نبض للتنمية ، جلسات توعية و مناقشة حول العنف القائم على النوع الاجتماعي مع فتيان و فتيات تتراوح أعمارهم بين ١٦ و ٢٠ عاما" في مركز علي نهري – البقاع . و ذلك لزيادة تمكين و ضمان رفاهية النساء و الفتيات من خلال الوصول الآمن إلى الخدمات والمعلومات ذات الصلة بالعنف القائم على النوع الاجتماعي والصحة الإنجابية والترويج للمساواة بين الجنسين.

In cooperation with the ministry of Social Affairs dispensary Center in Bekaa- Talia, the Gender Based violence (GBV) team of Nabad Association for Development conducted awareness sessions; On gender-based violence for males and females aged 14 years old and above.
During these sessions, participants were introduced to Nabad case management team, the types and forms of violence are discussed; and the difference between gender and sex, in addition to sessions under the title of reproductive health and menstrual hygiene for both females.
Nabad association for development team distributed hygiene kits to the participants. Through these sessions, we try to; Reducing the severity of violence, engage men boys to end violence, and spreading GBV awareness among all ages.
